The surface of a table not only defines its appearance but also its feel in everyday life. At MACERA, you can choose between oiled and lacquered table tops – depending on what best suits your style and needs. Here are the key differences at a glance:
Oiled surface
- Naturally matte – the wood appears warm, open-pored, and authentic
- Tactile – you can feel the wood structure, it remains "alive"
- More demanding to maintain – needs to be re-oiled regularly (e.g., 1–2 times per year), especially with stains or moisture
- Advantage: Very natural look, easier to repair
Lacquered surface
- Protected & sealed – the surface is closed and smooth
- Easy to clean – no re-oiling necessary, more resistant to stains and moisture
- Visually calmer – often slightly glossier (depending on the lacquer), less "wood feel"
- Advantage: Suitable for everyday use and robust
