With the right care, your table will remain beautiful for a lifetime.
NOTES
CARE
A table from MACERA is not just a piece of furniture, but a daily companion. It is used, sometimes challenged, and gains character over time. To ensure you enjoy it for many years, proper care is crucial, because wood is a living natural material. It changes, reacting to light, temperature, and humidity. And that is precisely what makes it so appealing.
On this page, you will learn how to best care for your table depending on its surface, which products you should use, and what is important in everyday life.
An oiled table feels warm and natural. The surface remains breathable, which positively influences the room climate. However, it requires regular attention.
For daily care, a soft, dry or slightly damp cotton cloth is sufficient. Make sure not to use microfiber cloths, aggressive cleaners, or wet rags, as these can damage the wood.
Approximately once or twice a year – depending on use – you should refresh the surface with a suitable care oil. This involves cleaning the wood, lightly sanding it, and re-oiling it. This preserves its feel and appearance.
Stains can usually be easily removed by spot sanding and re-oiling. An oiled table can therefore be easily repaired – and develops a unique patina over time.
Lacquered tables are sealed and thus less susceptible to moisture or stains. They are particularly well-suited for households with children or high traffic.
For cleaning, a soft cloth with a little water or a drop of mild dish soap is sufficient. Do not use abrasive sponges or chemical cleaners. Lacquered surfaces do not require additional care, but should still be dusted regularly and protected, for example with coasters or placemats.
All our table legs are made of metal and are powder-coated. They are easy to care for but not indestructible.
Clean them with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaning agents or abrasive sponges. Should anything peel off or get damaged, please contact us. We will provide straightforward assistance.
Even with the greatest care, it is not always avoidable: small scratches, dents or water stains are part of a table's everyday life. But don't worry, precisely because wood is a living material, many of these signs of wear and tear can be easily repaired.
When it comes to scratches, depth matters. Fine surface scratches can often be buffed out with a soft cleaning sponge and some care oil or wax. Always make sure to work with the grain. For oiled surfaces, light sanding of the affected area is possible before applying new oil. Lacquered tables, however, should only be treated with suitable care products. Sanding is not recommended here, as the protective film could otherwise be damaged.
Dents caused by pressure can sometimes be minimized with a little steam, for example, using a damp cloth and an iron at a low temperature. However, this method is only suitable for oiled surfaces and should be tested with caution. If in doubt, we recommend contacting a specialist or our customer service.
Water stains, especially white rings from glasses or vases, are usually superficial. On oiled tables, you can carefully treat them with abrasive fleece or very fine sandpaper and then re-oil. For lacquered surfaces, a special furniture cleaner or a soft cloth with a little vinegar-oil mixture often helps. Important: Always test in an inconspicuous area first!
Daily Care Tips
With a few simple routines, you can contribute a lot to the longevity of your MACERA table. Regular care not only maintains the beauty of the surface but also protects the wood from everyday influences.
Dust and light dirt are best removed with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Microfiber cloths can cause fine scratches over time; instead, use cotton cloths.
Do not use chemical cleaning agents, harsh household cleaners, or scouring agents. These attack the surface – regardless of whether it is oiled or varnished.
Avoid standing water or wet objects on the table. Immediately wipe up spills with a cloth. Especially with oiled surfaces, moisture can quickly penetrate the wood.
Use coasters for hot pots or cups. Intense sunlight can change the wood color. Make sure the table is exposed to light as evenly as possible.
Oiled surfaces should be re-oiled 1-2 times a year to protect the wood and maintain its beauty. Lacquered tables primarily need cleaning. However, regular care also helps to prevent small scratches here.
Avoid scratches by moving objects such as vases, bowls, or dishes. Coasters help protect the surface.
